The information collected may include page views, product interactions, and purchases. Further information about how Google processes Personal Information is available in Google’s Privacy Policy.
WhatsApp: When you communicate with us via WhatsApp, we may process your mobile phone number, profile information made available by you, the content and metadata of the communication, and your interactions with our messages. We only send marketing messages via WhatsApp where you have expressly consented to receive them.
1.2 Order Information
When you place an order on ruru-studios.com, we collect the information required to process your purchase.
This includes, in particular, your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, and information relating to your order and payment.
Payment information is generally processed by Shopify or the respective payment service provider. Depending on the payment method used, we may only receive limited payment information and not your complete credit card or bank account details.
1.3 Newsletter and Marketing Subscription Information
When you subscribe to our marketing communications through a form, checkout, WhatsApp, or another designated sign-up channel, we may collect the following information:
First name, email address, mobile phone number, date of birth, selected communication channels, consent status, date and time of consent, and information about how and when you subscribed or unsubscribed.
We only collect information that you actively provide to us. Providing your mobile phone number or date of birth is voluntary unless the relevant form clearly identifies the field as required.
Your consent to email, SMS, and WhatsApp marketing is recorded separately. Providing your phone number for an order, delivery, customer support request, or another operational purpose does not automatically subscribe you to marketing communications.
1.4 Minors
Our online store is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from persons under the age of 16. If you believe that a minor has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us and we will delete the information concerned.
2. How We Use Your Personal Information
2.1 Processing Orders
We use your Personal Information in particular to:
process orders, handle payments, and ship products,
communicate with you regarding your order,
process returns, complaints, and customer support requests,
detect potential fraud or security risks,
comply with our legal, accounting, and tax obligations.
2.2 Marketing and Advertising
We use device, usage, and order information to personalise your experience and to analyse and optimise our marketing activities.
This includes, in particular:
using the Conversion APIs and pixels of Meta, TikTok, and Pinterest to measure interactions on our website and display more relevant advertising,
using Google Analytics to better understand how visitors use our website,
evaluating the performance of our advertising campaigns and content.
We use advertising and analytics cookies only in accordance with your cookie preferences and the applicable legal requirements.
2.3 Marketing by Email, SMS, and WhatsApp
If you have actively consented to a specific marketing channel, we may use your contact information to send you occasional updates about new products, launches, events, offers, availability, and other news from ruru. studios.
Depending on your individual selection, we may contact you through the following channels:
Email,
SMS,
WhatsApp.
Consent is voluntary and is not required to place an order. Consent is managed separately for each communication channel. You may, for example, consent to email marketing without consenting to SMS or WhatsApp marketing.
The frequency of our marketing communications may vary. We do not send messages according to a fixed schedule.
You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future.
You can unsubscribe from email marketing using the unsubscribe link included in each marketing email.
You can unsubscribe from SMS or WhatsApp marketing by using the unsubscribe method described in the relevant message, by replying “STOP” where this is technically supported, or by contacting us at support[at]ruru-studios.com.
Withdrawing your consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
Depending on your mobile phone contract, your mobile network provider may charge fees for receiving or sending SMS or WhatsApp messages.
2.4 Date of Birth and Birthday Communications
If you provide us with your date of birth, we may use it to personalise your experience with ruru. studios, create customer segments, and send birthday-related communications, surprises, offers, or reminders.
We do not use your date of birth to verify your identity unless we expressly inform you otherwise.
You may request the correction or deletion of your date of birth at any time by contacting us.
2.5 Legal Bases for Processing
Where the applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, we process your Personal Information in particular on the basis of:
your consent, for example for email, SMS, or WhatsApp marketing and for certain analytics and advertising technologies,
the performance of a contract or steps taken prior to entering into a contract, for example to process and fulfil your order,
legal obligations, particularly those arising under tax, accounting, and commercial law,
our legitimate interests, for example in the security and functionality of our website, fraud prevention, improving our services, customer support, and analysing our business, provided that your interests or fundamental rights do not override those interests.
You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future.
3. Sharing Your Personal Information
We share your Personal Information with selected service providers where this is necessary to operate our website, process orders, communicate with you, perform analytics, or conduct marketing activities.
Depending on their role, these service providers process Personal Information on our behalf or as independent data controllers.
3.1 Third-Party Providers and Service Providers
Shopify: We use Shopify to operate our online store, manage customer information, orders, forms, marketing preferences, and other shop functions. Further information about how Shopify processes Personal Information is available in Shopify’s Privacy Policy.
Shopify Network Intelligence: Shopify also uses data from our store together with data from other Shopify merchants to improve products, ad targeting and personalisation, as described in Shopify's Additional Services Terms. Other merchants have no access to our customer data.
Shopify Forms and Shopify Messaging: We use Shopify services to collect form submissions, record email and SMS marketing preferences, store customer information, create customer segments, and manage marketing communications. Shopify processes this information in accordance with its privacy terms and the agreements in place between Shopify and us.
Payment service providers: Depending on the payment method you choose, we share the information required to process your payment with the relevant provider. We currently work with PayPal, TWINT, Datatrans (credit card processing) and MF Group / PowerPay (purchase on invoice and instalment payments). These providers process your Personal Information as independent controllers in accordance with their own privacy policies.
Purchase on invoice and credit assessment (PowerPay): If you choose to pay by invoice or in instalments, MF Group / PowerPay carries out a credit assessment. For this purpose, PowerPay may transmit Personal Information such as your name, address, date of birth and payment history to credit reference agencies and obtain information from them, and decides on an automated basis whether this payment method is available to you. If the assessment is negative, the payment method is not offered and you can select a different one. Further information about this processing and about your rights in relation to this automated decision is available in PowerPay's privacy policy.
Shipping and logistics providers: To deliver your order, we may share required information such as your name, shipping address, and, where necessary, contact details with shipping and logistics providers. For deliveries within Switzerland and Liechtenstein we currently work with Swiss Post.
Google Analytics: Google Analytics helps us understand how visitors use our website. Further information about how Google processes Personal Information is available in Google’s Privacy Policy.
If we use a specialised SMS service provider in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy before using that provider and include its name and information about the relevant processing activities.
3.2 Advertising Platforms
Meta, including Facebook and Instagram: We use the Meta Conversions API and Meta Pixel to measure events such as page views, purchases, and products added to the shopping cart, and to optimise our advertising on these platforms. Meta may also process Personal Information outside Switzerland.
Via the Meta Conversions API, we additionally transmit pseudonymised (hashed) customer data such as email address, phone number, name, and location or address details to Meta in order to attribute conversions more reliably and measure the effectiveness of our advertising. This data is cryptographically hashed before transmission and is used solely for matching against existing Meta accounts.
TikTok: We use the TikTok Conversions API and other TikTok technologies to measure and optimise our advertising. TikTok may also process information outside Switzerland.
Pinterest: We use the Pinterest Tag or Pixel to measure interactions on our website and display more relevant advertising. Pinterest may also process information outside Switzerland.
Google Ads: We use Google Ads to display advertisements across the Google network and evaluate their performance. Google uses information about your interactions with our website, such as page views and purchases, to measure advertising and, where applicable, tailor it to your interests. Google may also process Personal Information outside Switzerland.
Further information about the relevant processing activities and your available settings can be found in the privacy policies and advertising settings of the respective providers.
3.3 WhatsApp
We may use WhatsApp Business to communicate with customers who contact us through WhatsApp and with subscribers who have expressly consented to receive WhatsApp marketing communications.
Depending on your interaction, WhatsApp may process your mobile phone number, profile information, message content, message metadata, device information, and interaction data.
WhatsApp is operated by a company within the Meta group and may process or store Personal Information outside Switzerland.
Your consent to WhatsApp marketing is separate from your consent to email or SMS marketing. Providing your mobile phone number when placing an order or through another form does not automatically subscribe you to WhatsApp marketing.
You may withdraw your consent to WhatsApp marketing at any time by replying “STOP” or contacting us at support[at]ruru-studios.com.
After you withdraw your consent, we will no longer send you WhatsApp marketing messages. We may retain certain information where this is necessary to comply with legal obligations, document your unsubscribe request, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Further information about how WhatsApp processes Personal Information is available in WhatsApp’s Privacy Policy.
3.4 International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers may process or store Personal Information outside Switzerland and the European Economic Area.
Where the recipient country does not provide a recognised adequate level of data protection, we rely, where required, on appropriate safeguards such as recognised standard contractual clauses or on an exception permitted by law.
Despite such safeguards, particularly where information is processed in the United States, it cannot be completely ruled out that foreign authorities may access Personal Information in accordance with the laws applicable in that country.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to provide the functionality of our website, improve your user experience, analyse how our website is used, and display personalised advertising.
We obtain your consent for advertising and analytics cookies where this is required under applicable law.
Depending on your location, we display a cookie banner when you visit our website, allowing you to grant, refuse, or change your consent to analytics and advertising cookies at any time. In countries where prior consent is not required — such as Switzerland — we inform you through this Privacy Policy, and you may object to such use at any time via your browser settings or by contacting us.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. However, doing so may limit certain functions of ruru-studios.com.
Further general information about cookies is available on information websites such as All About Cookies.
5. Your Rights
Depending on the data protection law applicable to you, you may have the following rights:
Right of access: You may request information about the Personal Information we process about you.
Right to correction: You may request that inaccurate or incomplete Personal Information be corrected or completed.
Right to deletion: You may request the deletion of your Personal Information where the applicable legal requirements are met.
Right to restriction: Where the GDPR applies, you may request the restriction of processing under certain circumstances.
Right to data portability: Where the GDPR applies, you may request, subject to the applicable legal requirements, to receive certain information you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.
Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future.
Right to object: You may object at any time to the use of your Personal Information for direct marketing. Where the GDPR applies, you may also object under certain circumstances to other processing activities based on legitimate interests.
Right to information: You may request information about the sources, purposes, recipients, and categories of Personal Information we process about you.
To exercise your rights or withdraw marketing consent, you may use the unsubscribe option included in the relevant communication or contact us at support[at]ruru-studios.com.
We may request additional information where this is necessary to verify your identity. Statutory retention obligations and other legally permitted restrictions remain reserved.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority. In Switzerland, this is in particular the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner. For individuals in Liechtenstein, the Liechtenstein Data Protection Authority may also be competent.
6. Data Retention
We retain Personal Information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or to comply with legal, accounting, tax, warranty, security, or record-keeping obligations.
Order and transaction information is generally retained for ten years, in line with the retention obligations for business records under the Swiss Code of Obligations.
We generally retain email, SMS, and WhatsApp marketing information for as long as you remain subscribed to the relevant channel.
If you unsubscribe, we may retain limited information about your previous consent and its withdrawal. This helps us permanently respect your unsubscribe request, demonstrate compliance with legal requirements, and prevent further marketing communications.
Your date of birth is generally stored in your customer profile for as long as the profile remains active or until you request its correction or deletion, unless there is another lawful basis for retaining it for a longer period.
Marketing consent records may include the communication channel, the date and time of consent or withdrawal, the source of consent, and the consent wording shown at the relevant time.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example where we change our processing activities, use new service providers, or where legal requirements change.
The current version will be published on this page. The date of the most recent update is shown at the end of this Privacy Policy.
